From whole beans to French press: Dr. M’s coffee routine

The method below follows the demonstrated batch. It records the steps Dr. Musnick shows without turning the fill level of his grinder into a universal coffee-to-water ratio.

What he uses: whole coffee beans, grinder, French press, hot filtered water, stirrer.

  1. Grind the beans for about four to five seconds in the grinder shown.
  2. Transfer the ground coffee to the French press.
  3. Add almost 16 ounces of hot filtered water for the demonstrated batch.
  4. Stir well and put the lid on.
  5. Wait four to five minutes, then press and pour.

No coffee weight or water temperature was specified. The grinder fill level is equipment-specific and is not a universal brewing ratio.
